Which one consumes more electricity, air conditioner or electric fan?

Simply from the perspective of power consumption, air conditioners consume more electricity than electric fans.
The reason is that the power of common air conditioners in life is much higher than that of common electric fans. For example, the power of a 1p air conditioner is 735 watts. The maximum power of an ordinary household electric fan will not exceed 100 watts. Obviously, the air conditioner consumes many times more power than the electric fan during the same working time. Air conditioners consume more electricity than electric fans.
However, from the perspective of which is more energy-saving, air conditioners and electric fans, it can not be said that air conditioners consume more electricity than electric fans. From this point of view, it can only be said that a common air conditioner in life consumes more electric energy than a common electric fan when it is turned on for the same time, but it cannot be said that an electric fan saves energy than an air conditioner. These are two conceptual issues.
The reasons are as follows:
1. Whether electric appliances consume electricity depends on the energy efficiency ratio. That is, the ratio of the work done to the electric energy consumed. The greater the ratio, the more electricity is saved. To put it bluntly, less investment leads to more gain. This is a high energy efficiency ratio, which means saving electricity.
The energy efficiency ratio of air conditioning mainly refers to the energy efficiency ratio of refrigeration, that is, the ratio of refrigerating capacity to power consumption. As for the energy efficiency ratio of air conditioners, there are five levels, namely, level 1 is 3.4 or above, level 2 is 3.2-3.4, level 3 is 3.0-3.2, level 4 is 2.8-3.0, and level 5 is 2.6-2.8. Level 1 is the most energy-efficient and level 5 is the lowest. That is to say, the cooling capacity of 2.6~2.8 kW can be obtained by consuming 1 kW of electric power. More than double the amount of work done.
It can be seen that air conditioning is an energy-saving electrical appliance in terms of refrigeration. Of course, this effect is achieved because of its own working principle, that is, the air conditioner is only a device to carry heat. When cooling, it carries the heat to the outside, making the indoor comfortable at low temperature.
For the electric fan, it also has the energy efficiency ratio, but its energy efficiency ratio is constant based on the air volume, which is the ratio of the generated air volume to the power consumption. According to the instructions in the limited values of energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades of electric fans gb12021.9-2021, electric fans have three energy efficiency grades, as shown in the following figure:
It can be seen that the energy efficiency rating of electric fans is complex, but it is understandable that electric fans are electrical appliances that convert electric energy into wind energy. People use electric fans to blow air. Its working principle, we need not say more, is that the motor drives the fan to make the air flow and form the wind. That is to say, it consumes 1 kW of electricity. An electric fan with a class 1 energy efficiency fan blade diameter of 200 mm can obtain an air volume of about 1000 m3 / min.
So, the question is, which of the air conditioners and electric fans with the same primary energy efficiency consumes more electricity? Normally, all electrical appliances belong to class I energy efficiency, so it should be considered that the electrical appliance is the international advanced level and the most energy-saving, that is, the lowest energy consumption. There is no comparability between the two.
2. In terms of self cooling, air conditioners are more practical than electric fans.
Air conditioners and electric fans are the most used products in summer. Their main function is to cool down. It can be said that after the air conditioner is turned on, the ambient temperature can be reduced to a comfortable range and can be maintained continuously. If the ambient temperature of the electric fan is too high, you may not get a comfortable ambient temperature for any longer.
Although this perspective can not explain which of the two is more energy-saving or power consuming, let us not forget that if we want to reach a comfortable ambient temperature, the air conditioner may only take a few minutes, while the electric fan may take a few hours or even longer. When it comes to the end use, it is not certain which equipment consumes more power.
Therefore, which is more power consuming, air conditioner or electric fan? We can draw a conclusion that, in terms of power consumption, turning on the air conditioner for the same time is more power consuming than the electric fan. However, in terms of achieving the purpose of use or according to the electrical energy efficiency rating standards, it cannot be said that the air conditioner is more power consuming than the electric fan.
